What are the tools of Chemistry?

In my Opinion when I here the words Chemistry Lab, then I think of many things. Such as a the movie called "Absolute Zero". I also think about other stuff such as a big Lab with many tools in  it; glass, molecules, and the Periodic table. Here is what I found out that professional Chemists have in their Lab.
Chemists need Gloves, Goggles, a lab Coat, heat-on-blocks (with different sizes), starfish set-up, test tubes (also in different sizes), bottom flasks, Computers, Calculators, and other different supplies.

Waste Disposal

What is Waste Disposal?
"The process of getting rid of unwanted, broken, worn out, contaminated or spoiled materials in an orderly, regulated fashion."
For me this means that you just throw everything away, without recycling anything if it.

I found out that out that People do not really care about what they throw away, nor about Global Warming.
In Addition there are over 1.000.000 Trash Places. We throw most of our trash into the Sea, there is already a huge place where there is trash. In the U.S the throw the old Metro trains into the ocean.
I think that it is interesting
Many Companies or Supermarkets have usually at the exit or the entrance a little box where you can put in your old batteries you do not use anymore. Also many Companies are recycling and are ahead of us.
To recycle costs a lot of money. Here are some examples that need special treatment; Appliances, Batteries, Computers, Construction Debris, Electronics, Florescent Lamps, Landscape Waste, Mercury, Motor Oil, Paint, Propane Gas, and Used Tires.

Absolute Zero

Part 1
I thought that it is pretty impressive that they could have predicted that we would use this in the future.
Also that they did that so smartly with the Ice cubes.
What I noticed was that the people got refrigerators after that trade was going around the world.

Part 2
James Dewar always wanted to reach absolute zero, he eventually did, it he liquefied: Nitrogen, Hydrogen, and Oxygen   10 Celsius above Absolute Zero.
Apparently he had close down his lab for six months, because so many scientists or helpers got hurt, such as loosing an eye, or even breaking a bone.
Finally they found out something in a sample of Mercury, if something is four degrees above absolute zero, the electricity abruptly vanishes.

Phases of Matter

" Matter can exist in several distinct forms which we call phases. We are all familiar with solids, liquids and gases. Whether a substance is a solid, liquid or gas depends on the potential energy in the atomic forces holding the particles together and the thermal energy of the particle motions. The pressure on the subtance also has an effect on the phase."
Solid is one of the major states of matter. It is characterized by structural rigidity and resistance to changes of shape or volume. Unlike a liquid, a solid object does not flow to take on the shape of its container, nor does it expand to fill the entire volume available to it like a gas does.
Liquid is one of the three classical states of matter. Like a gas, a liquid is able to flow and take the shape of a container, but, like a solid, it resists compression. Unlike a gas, a liquid does not disperse to fill every space of a container, and maintains a fairly constant density.
gas - the state of matter distinguished from the solid and liquid states by: relatively low density and viscosity; relatively great expansion and contraction with changes in pressure and temperature; the ability to diffuse readily; and the spontaneous tendency to become distributed uniformly.

On the Picture above you can see the three types of matter.

Diamonds are Scientists Best Friends

Diamonds are made out of Carbon. it is the most concentradet form. Carbon is very common it is on our bodies and everywhere. diamonds are made under the earths crust. They are brought upwith magma; vulcanoes, they were made over 1 billion years ago. they gave diamonds to people who win a nobel price. they are hard and they can only be made in a special heat. Oregs made of diamonds. They will use diamonds also in the future for computers. The largest cut diamond on Earth is called " The golden jewel. It has 546 Karat diamond and it fits in the palm of your hand.
There are also cosmic diamonds which are made in the galaxy.

Periodic Table of Videos

I did not really notice which element was not presented but I think it was Potassium or H2o, but I am not too sure about that. In the videos I often saw a reaction that had to do with a Balloon which was quite interesting. The three elements I learned about.
1. Helium, if you would put it into a balloon and then try to burn it; it only pops. The Scientists say that if we are going to was Helium just like that then we soon in the future won't have anything anymore.
2. Sodium, is very dangerous, you should not use it with out someone watching you, if you cut some sodium off and put it into water, then it starts burning and flaming.
3. Carbon is an extraordinary important element, it is also use it weigh other elements. It is a very nice and soft black powder.

Chemical Party Reflection

In my opinion, i think the video was pretty funny because
1. The neon + Hydrogen = no attraction ...
but carbon + hydrogen = Attraction!
and also other(4) hydrogens can attract!
2. Sodium Chloride + Electricity = element separation.
3. Water + potassium = at first ??? after; Explosive Reaction!!!

Octet Rule and Models

What is the Octet rule?

The octet rule is a simple chemical rule of thumb that states that atoms tend to combine in such a way that they each have eight electrons in their valence shells, giving them the same electronic configuration as a noble gas.

For me this means that the "Octet Rule" is just a chemical rule that explains the atoms and the electronic configuration.

What is a Bohr Diagram?

The Bohr model, devised by Niels Bohr, depicts the atom as a small, positively charged nucleus surrounded by electrons that travel in circular orbits around the nucleus—similar in structure to the solar system, but with electrostatic forces providing attraction, rather than gravity.

What I am trying to say is that the nucleus orbits around the solar system but with electrostatic force.

What is a Lewis Dot Diagram?

The Bohr model gives almost exact results only for a system where two charged points orbit each other at speeds much less than that of light. This not only includes one-electron systems such as the hydrogen atom, singly-ionized helium, doubly ionized lithium, but it includes positronium and Rydberg states of any atom where one electron is far away from everything else.

In my own words this would mean that a Bohr model gives a similar result only for a system where two charged points each other at speeds which are not that fast such as light; and that it shouldn't always include one-electron system such as the hydrogen atom, singly-ionized helium, doubly ionized lithium, but it includes positronium and Rydberg states of any atom where one electron is far away from everything else.

What element is this? How can you decide? Post a comment to my post below and tell me what you think it is?

Evidence of a Reaction

Someone just shook the class, after a while it turned to a bright yellow to an orange until to a orange red. Foam went over the glass and smoke came out of it.

In my opinion I really like this video because they actually explain it to you.

What is water???

I found out that water is a molecule that consists of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Also Water is a ubiquitous chemical substance that is composed of hydrogen and oxygen and is vital for all known forms of life. that if we have too much water we don’t get drunk but we can dround. Our body has 75percent of water in our body. There is a funny fact I recently read about; if you shave your legs then you do not really get a sunburn.
